Re:<< Thanks.
Fdisk can refomat ntfs to fat 32? >>

Well, fdisk can wipe the old partition table and then format a new FAT32 partition. That's not exactly the same as formatting the NTFS partition, but it'll do what you need it to do.

Re:it won't work even if you try installing win98 using setup.exe/ ntldr because C is not fat32!
if you're serious about dual booting, suggest you start from scratch installing win98 first on C the install xp!

Best Answer: Linkdead is incorrect.
The side of the lawn is the unknown: x, and the surface is x²
The side of the walkway (external) is x + 4 (2 times the width) and the total surface is (x + 4)²
The surface of the walkway is the total area minus the area of the lawn, and is equal to the area of the lawn: (surf tot – surf lawn) = surf lawn
(x + 4)^2 – x^2 = x^2
(x^2 + 8x + 16) – x^2 = x^2
x^2 + 8x + 16 = 2 (x^2)
x^2 – 8x – 16 = 0
x1 = 9.65
x2 = -1.65 (impossible)

Re:no nothing is oced on yet. Im going to try the PS2 port and try playing game in 1 player mode to see if the NIC card is the problem.

Re:Don't look at those temp numbers and forget he is running an asus board and temp tend to run higher on asus boards…this is discussed a lot in case cooling threads. Those are numbers that are being posted look fine, not great…And the coolermaster is doing him no favors.

Vid card heat? You are not oc'ing that are you? Nvidia cards run hot as it is…

Re:bart, good idea… Definetely get some aftermarket cooling on that

If he has the optical mouse, try the ps2 connector on it… it helped my problems

Re:Uh I think Baldy has it "heat" is more than likely your problem… Just give this a try boot up at 10X100 or 1000mhz and play your game and see if that does the trick… Let us know…

Re:Hey guy,

I still have Com1 but theres no point in disabling it, because the NIC card still moves with the USB controllers. Yeah Slot3 is the only one thats not sharing IRQ with anything and im using that for the SB live. I installed the USB patch from the A7V133 motherboard CD, I dont know if theres a update for that. Ill try another mouse tonight and see if that works.
Baldy im using a coolermaster right now and im waiting for my swiftech to arrive, I dont think heats a problem though.

thanks guys

Re:sounds/looks like heat, especially the freezing after playing a game for awhile.

what r u usin' for cooling the sucker?

guy

Re:we have asus a7v's at work here for the thunderbirds, and until we updated the bios from 1.004 to 1.005 we had massive instabilty problems – random crashes with no apparent pattern. Once we updated the bioses everything was solved instantaneously.

I'm not sure about the Asus A7V133 but maybe update the bios to the latest one if 1.004 isn't the latest.

Re:Hey, still having problem? Didn't the sb card solve the most of the probelms?

I see you still have com1…do you need it?

Is the sb card in slot 3 the only available slot to put nic card to avoid tag along usb controllers.

It is funny I have seen people with nic cards sharing irqs…I wander if the usb mouse is the majority of the problem…I have heard of some problems but that was with optical mouses (which i don't know what they are)…If you are running win98 I think there is a usb update patch at microshit.

Hell try a ps2 mouse and see if problem prosist…that could be sure fire away of eliminating usb mouse as source of problems.
Anyone know a fix?

Best Answer: First things first.
1. Run your virus protection, to make sure you are not infected with any infections.

2. Click start, all programs, accessories, system tool, disk clean up. Click more options tab, clear old system restore points. Go back to preivious tab, check all options, click okay. (Note: it may take several minutes, to complete.)

3. Click start, all programs, accessories, system tool, disk defrag. This can take 10 minutes to a few hours, depending on how often you run it.

4. Go into add/remove and remove any programs you no longer us.

5. Finally, click start, run, type, msconfig, start up tab, search for all startup item names, Here http://www.processlibrary.com/ The programs run in the background at all times, some of which are not needed to. Once done click applly, okay, yes to restart, Once computer restart, check the small white box, click okay and your good to go.

Re:that's why he's elite.

Re:Cool new drivers worked. Now it only stops for about 1 second. Anyone who needs to do this make sure you have 1.60 Build 25 NOT Build 19.

Re:Disabling it is not an option. I have to use it since I have 7 IDE devices.

Re:Yes. Go to Asus' site and dl the newest driver for the controller—it'll take 30-40 seconds off your boot time.

Re:yeah, in the device manager, disable it. i'm not using an ata100 drive, but an ata66 drive, so i hooked up the drive to the ata66 connection on the motherboard, and disabled the ata100 controller both in the bios and in win2k. i go from power on to opening a program in about a minute. if you've got an ata100 drive, i don't know what to tell you. that's just how it is apparently.
