Q: One of my machines running XP, SP2 can not connect to a Web page http. I tried to figure out the problem, and I can only guess that port 80 is blocked by something. But I do not see where I can find where I can open the gate up.
This is a direct connection to a cable modem, router, so its no problem. I can connect to sites from another machine without a problem when connected to the same modem (after a reset), so it seems a Windows issue.

Reading around, this is what I found. I think I can wait until the end of the week. I have a backup of my system yet as I usually do before major upgrades.
