Q: I am building a server from the second box listed in my sig. I want to go the SCSI I think. Heres the things Im going to do:
1) running a web server with a static IP and use Apache2

Q: Hi guys
Ive hosting my website on a dynamic IP for a while now, and now I finally have the chance to move my server a static IP. I will also add another website to server.
My question is this: Since I use a static IP now, I use a DNS server like BIND? (I would also like to run a mail server). What about multiple sites? , the DNS server is to redirect or apache?
thanks:)

Q: I received a message from comcast.net to change from a static IP using DHCP. Ive followed their instructions http://www.comcast.net/connectioncenter/staticip.asp and rebooted, but I could not lease an IP address from DHCP. I went to a command prompt and ran “ipconfig / renew” and got the following error message: DHCP server not available “. Do I need a default gateway or something up? How does my computer know what address to use to contact the DHCP server?
I am in Baltimore, Maryland.

Q: Ok, short summary. I have a static IP and have a registered domain name. The people I registered the domain with the need for my ISPs DNS names (not IP addresses) to translate the domain name to my IP. My ISP has not to me. So, can I get a DNS off my machine to the company to offer I registered my domain name? More importantly, will this work? Finally, how do I go about setting it up? Thanks for the help.
