Ive tried two USB and a PS2 mouse, every time I scroll up and down quickly restarted my computer, very strange. Any ideas?

Re:I had this ages ago, traced it to dodgy power supply via graphics card and directdraw

Re:I have my Explorer mouse attached to a Hawking 2port KVM. Depending on the drivers installed on the PC connected, it causes weird behavior when scrolling. Typically, scrolling up will cause browser to go 'back' pages and down 'forward', and other odd behavior like that. With the latest intellimouse drivers for XP it's not really an issue, or if the mouse is connected directly to the PC it's not an issue.

Anyway, I imagine there are other problems here… does it happen in safemode?

Re:Originally posted by: guy
You guys forgot one question….a very important one….

What application or applications does this happen in?

Applications typically don't have kernel-level software, which is what can crash a machine. Drivers do.

I have tried 2 usb and 1 ps2 mouse, everytime I scroll up and down fast it restarts my computer, very weird. Any ideas?

Are you using a third party mouse driver, or the builtin XP mouse driver?

Re:That has got to be one of the strangest problems I've ever heard.

Since you've tried both USB and ps2 mouses, I'd guess it's a software problem. Have you scanned your system recently for virii?
It used to be DVD + R DL discs burn fine, but now I have four in a row fail. I think wrote the first layer and has problem going into the half. Still burns fine on DVD + R and RW.
Best Answer: a bit of a hesitation when the layers change is not all that uncommon. You could try to slow down the burn speed to eliminate or at least lessen how noticeable this issue is. You could also try clonedvd and anydvd from http://www.slysoft.com they both have 21 day trials so you can try them and see if the problem goes away. That would determine if it were a software issue. Hope this helps.

My site (http://www.geocities.com/mfishercscc)

I do not know why, but the link to my blog is messed up somehow. If you click in IE you need my. But when I click in firefox, I get the background color, but nothing else. Im not sure what the browser is used by the instructor, but he complains that it is not working for him, either. Oddly enough it worked fine when I load firefox on Linux in a virtual machine, but it will not work in konqueror (sp?) 0.

Here is that particular line of code

u003ca href = “blog.html” My blog u003e u003c; / au003e

I have tried using both just blog.html and full web address. I get the same result both times. Works fine for me in IE but not Firefox.

Re:All i get is the blue background. Light blue backgound all over except at the top where it's a little darker shade.
Using FF 1.5.0.9 with only a few extensions.

edit- also noticed that all the Geocities crap on the right doesn't load on any of the pages with FF. It also didn't try to download the "battle cry mp3" either.

Re:works fine on FF 1506 and 2001

Re:Yeah thats what you should see, but instructor says it doesn't work.

Re:Ver 2.0.0.1 also works in mozilla 1.7.13 and IE 6
Part of what I see is

"Hello,

This is my first entry in my blog created for my CIT 139 Web Essentials class at Columbus State. Again I ask, is it the greatest blog ever? Not likely, but with a little hard work and some determination I at least hope to keep it from being the worst blog ever. LOL"

Re:It worked for you guys in firefox? What version are you running?

Oh and I didn't edit the link to point to the full URL of the page.

Re:Worked for me, but you could try puttin in the full address in the link if it's not working for you.

Re:sorry I mis types the address for my link, works now.

Not sure what I would need to change on the blog

Re:the link to your site doesn't work

also, it sounds like the problem is on the blog.html page, not with the link going to it

Darno

Re:well, I know it's just one disk but I was just really curious cause I never had any problem like this before. I don't mind getting a new disk but like I said I was just curious. Thanks anyway for all the helps.

Darno

Re:Oh, I don't know, once in a while I feel good about being able to salvage a "bad" disk of data for someone.

Re:I had the same problem of computer not reading a disk right and it was on the same computer it happened when trying to make the rescue disk with the rescue program that comes with a zip drive that lets you make a floppy an zip disk for emergency start up
only way I could get it to read it was to let the program do a full format on the floppy if I did just the quick format wouldn't read the floppy etc and I tried it on about 3 different floppy disk same thing on them all

Re:If it was me:
1 floppy => trow it away

100 floppy => trow away the FDD

Re:Well, I'd chalk it up to an anomaly and wouldn't lose any sleep over it unless every floppy won't read in Win2k. If it's just that one, then for whatever reason it's just not readin in that O/S. If it's more floppies, then you have something to be concerned about.

Re:Some floppy drives are just not capaple of reading ALL floppies. Sometimes a disk is a little worn out or defective. A good floppy drive will write and read it but a cheaper drive will not.

I use an Alpine because they usually will read and write about any disk. Like sometimes my friend's Mitsumi floppy can't read a disk from his Sony digi cam — but the Alpine does.

All I can say is put the floppy that is reading the disk in the system you use the most. It must be a good one.

Re:guy: I did copy the floopy to another floopy and I tried to reformat the floopy in the Win 2K box but it didn't work. It's really weird cause I thought my floopy drive was defective but I have 2 O/S in My Win 2K machine (dual booting) and it was fine under Win ME. So I don't think it's the floopy drive and I also don't think the floopy cause the disk is just working good under win 98 and win ME. About the alignment that you said, it does make sense but I can't reformat the disk in win 2k. Do you have any clue what causes this to happen? thanks

Darno

Re:It simply means the floppy drives you have are slightly out of alignment with each other. I'm not sure where the disk that won't work in Win2k was recorded, but wherever it was, the Win2K machine's floppy drive is more picky about reading the tracks if they don't align correctly. You said this only happens with one floppy, so I would just make a copy of the floppy on a different diskette and try it on both machines. If that works ok, get rid of the old floppy or format it again in the Windows 2000 machine.

Anyone ideas?

Thanks

Best Answer: Looks like you have the wrong driver installed! Install the driver that came with the machine when you bought it.

Good luck with it!

Re:Solved!
Thanks guy!
After reading your post, I install Adaptec EZ-cd creator and it finally got assign a letter.

Thanks all who posted for your help too!

This forum is like a family helping each other out!.

John

Re:guy,
No ZIP drive install.

guy,
This CDR is quite old. Its a JVC XR-w2010, the scsi controller is Buslogic.
