tell me what you dislike about XP

Q: I keep hearing about the extras that people hate in XP, but most people do not specifically mention features

just wondering what you have to say

Best Answer: Vista for a laptop sucks, but I use Vista Ultimate on my desktop and have NEVER once encountered a problem. I have used Vista since beta testing and it is a good OS. The downside is, it does hog resources and loves tons of memory. Most people will say Vista sucks and thats cool cause its their opinion I am of the opinion that Vista is a good OS, not the best not the worst. So far the worst all time is M.E. edition. XP is the best all time.

Re:I deleted a folder called MSN messenger =p.

Re:MSN Messager
Remote Desktop (= Trojan Server)
System Restore
WiMP
Windows Movie Maker
Active Desktop (you can't disable it anymore)
The Search Dog (bastard child of Bob and Clippy)
The Login Screen (attempting to disable it breaks my network configuration)
The New Start Button
Internet Exploder
The fact that, no matter what you do, XP claims image files as its own and just won't let them go. This prevents me from opening multiple files in Paint Shop Pro, something I do often.
The Wizards

Windows XP is an inspiration for piracy. Being able to "try it before I buy it" saved me about $300 I would have otherwise wasted on this horrid OS.

If this is the way Microsoft is taking its slaves, I think it's time for a revolt of sorts: use another OS! Switching to Linux was the best thing I ever did. :)

Re:I also agree about MS Messanger.

So how can a person remove it safely?

Re:I wish they hadn't integrated MSN Messenger.

agreed

Re:The VM seems unbalanced to me, it'll swap everything out to make the file cache larger and then have to swap it all back in if you want to actually do something while it's copying files, I notice it mostly when copying files across the network.

Re:I wish they hadn't integrated MSN Messenger. I know it can be removed but I actually use it (when it's working :P ). The most annoying thing about it now is that you can't shut it down without closing Outlook and other programs "used by MSN." Course you can always End Task it but that sucks. Seems to me M$ wanted to keep it open and displaying advertising as long as possible.

The control panel sucks now too, although you can at least go to the "classic" style. I guess that's more of a person preference though i/expressions/rolleye.gif

Re:I think some of the wizards are annoying. For example the networking wizard, and the users and accounts wizard. They weren't made for a person who knows how to do it manually anyway though.
