Best Answer: Sounds like a bad Power Supply or serious overheating issue. When was the last time you blew the dust out of the PC and Power Supply?

Re:Do you have an updated virus scanner? Or was it "repairing" those folders during scandisk. I have seen that kind of problem happen with a virus, but have seen it more from a head crash (usually from someone hitting or accidentally dropping something on the case or the case itself if you move it around). I would do a thorough scandisk in dos from a boot disk if I was you and see if there are any bad sectors/clusters starting.

Re:Well i ran the IBM diagnostics and strange enough nothing is wrong with my hard drive. When i rebooted windowsXP ran scan disk and fixed some errors, i opened My Computer and went into my D:\ drive. Now all my folders are deleted except one folder. I am very pissed that all my data has bin deleted.

Re:Try and boot from a floppy and then run scandisk.
Do you need whats on there? I am guessing so but if not just reformat the HD. I would do a low level.
Sound to me like your HD is going out.
