Q: I have a lot of JPG file on my computer and I want to make a photo CD, so I can see it as a VCD on my TV. What program can I use to do it? The catch is that I want, if he is like a slide show format, where it can go to the next photo will make every 5 seconds. Is that possible? Can I bacground things to add? such as text, effects, and perhaps even music in the background?
Thinking about it, this sounds more like a PowerPoint presentation, except for pictures on a TV .
what do you think? how can I do?
Best Answer: It should work. Pictures don't have regions, only movie DVDs do. If there's a particular program you need to view the pictures, and it's not on the CD, you'll have to send that too.

Re:I just tried the trial copy of ulead's program. Pretty easy and the music is a nice touch. Made a VCD 2.0 disc with my burner, worked great.

I'm sure Nero 5.5 has an option for this too, I will have to take a look tonight….I am quite keen to give this a go also.
In order for it work work, you will need a DVD Player that supports VCD or Picture CD's…check your manual….

Nero can do it quite well, although you can't put any background music in.
Yup, just launch the Wizard, choose Picture CD and Nero will walk you through it, pretty straight forward. Other then no music, works quite well.

*rant on* Why do people make comments like this? I know numerous people who use both Nero and Roxio products – and have no complaints about either program.
If Roxio has worked for me on umpteen computers that I have owned and it also co-exists with Nero on my systems too how can there be a problem with it? Have you ever used Roxio products? *rant off*
For the non-Roxio fanboys out there – you can also get a program from Ulead (DVD Picture Show) which was the one I couldn't remember. It works reasonably well but not cutting the mustard to the extent of the Roxio program
glad you could get that off of your chest there, gtd 2000. since no two computers are exactly alike, i simply stated that i do not support roxio products because they have burned me in the past (at least when it was adaptec). two clean reformats back in adaptec easycd creator 4 days do not a loyal supporter make. i did not point anyone to nero or anything to steer them away, it was a harmless comment. more substantively tho, i honestly did not know that roxio bought WinOnCD which i have used before and is pretty good. i think it is more of an issue that roxio had a lot of money and made a good choice buying out an already good product. kudos to roxio, may they continue to be a good software company.
cheers all.
btw a fanboy is not defined by what he/she doesn't support.

Re:[i]Originally posted by: guyI second Ulead PictureShow… works very nicely…
You can burn a VCD with pictures organized in a slideshow format… You can also specify the amount of time between pictures (eg. 5 seconds)… plus you can add your own background music from mp3's…
As mentioned before (as a user of both programs) Ulead is inferior to the Roxio WinOnCD program for the quality of the finished product.
It is a more user friendly program though for newbies…or at least it was for me. However, I only used the Ulead program a couple of times and dumped it in favour of Roxio.

Ulead PitureShow can do this nicely. you can make chapters and put your mp3s in background.
There's a new version out, haven't tried it. http://www.ulead.com/dps/runme.htm
Version works ok. If you really want effects as the pictures shows,
use Pinnacle studio 8. I made a few for a wedding studio.

Roxio WinOnCD 5 can do this – I made a few in the past for my mother with this software – does everything that you ask of it. Works very well indeed too.
I tried another program which I forget the name of now it was a much smaller program with some better feature that WinOnCD, however the image quality was inferior.
Re:I always wonder, is there a way to make a powerpoint presentation into a VCD? or someting..
Re:I'm interested to know too. I've got 200mb of pictures that I wanna burn to a CD. Is there anyway it can be shown through a Cd player to a TV??
Re:Get a ReplayTV, you can do it with that.
You can send the pics to your ReplayTV through your home network and use the pics as a "screensaver" on your TV.
