Q: I recently received a small home network. I have two PCs connected, each with exactly the same Linksys NICs with a Netgear hub. A computer is an Athlon 500 with 128 MB of RAM, the other is PII 300 with 64 MB of RAM. When I try and playing MP3s or transferring data with the PII off of the Athlon is very choppy and takes a long time for things to wear, looks like its not getting the data quickly enough, but when I play MP3 and transfer PII data from the Athlon was not choppy mp3s perfectly and very fast data transfer. Why? Is the processor and memory but I did not think it that much. Each type of solution or how this correction will be greatly appreciated.
Best Answer: I am running two computers right now on the same modem. I do, however have the one that's on my work bench plugged into a ethernet port on the back of my router. So I guess you got ot have a router.

Re:Ahhh, I should of told you this to begin with…. Try getting new cables… I had this problem a while back and I replaced the cables and it was fixed!

Re:You cold also try "running" an ftp program with one as client and the other as the server. Use the ftp programs to transfer the files… The GUI file transfers can be sluggish. Never heard of a problem like this… be sure to post solution if you ever find one…
