Typical causes random reboots? [typical cause] [sory]

Q: Hey everyone, the last time my Windows 2000 machine that a random reboots. There are a number of bluescreen, but it just blinks and reboots. From what I can do, it says something page fault. Does anyone know what the cause might be typical. Food perhaps. Thanks a lot

Re:I second the RAM speculation. I was having similar problems when using Syncmax RAM in a BX motherboard (I know, I know, it's not supposed to be compatible, but I had some extra…). If you can test it with good-quality RAM that you KNOW isn't bad, I'd do that.

Re:pagefault seems to mean just about anything. I got that with bad RAM settings. seeing as you didn't change your ram maybe it is the PSU.

Re:What about underpowered memory causing random crashed and/or reboots?

Re:I've seen random reboots caused by conflicting software before "i think".

Re:Could not having enough voltage to overclocked memory cause this? I'm running PC1600 ram at 133 mhz which is PC2100 speeds. I get some occasional crashing/rebooting. Should I up the memory voltage a little?

Re:Dust on the motherboard was the cause of my random reboots ;)

Re:Been thinking the same thing about the power supply. Once I can put together the cash I'm going to invest in a Quiet powersupply. Spending the extra bucks on the case and powersupply saves a ton of heartache later. (Heartache? *cough*)

Re:yeah i'm thinking its that too, i do have a very cheap power supply. Maybe its time I upgraded to an Enermax or something of that liking. Thanks a lot

Re:typical causes are power supply and ram.

if your power supply isn't amd approved it could causes random reboots. also this is a sign of system instability. mine did that when i oc'd to 1250. they stopped when i dropped it to 1200.

Re:Well, quite a few months ago, our computer started randomly rebooting because our circuit breaker was wearing out and arcing. Of course, the lights would dim in the room at the same time, but unless you've ruled it out, my guess would be that it's a power issue.

Re:how were u able to tell if your nic was causing the reboots?

Re:My ISA nic was causing random reboots. My Linksys LNE100TX is great.
