Q: I upgraded from a AMD AMD FX55/7950GT 3700/7800gt a KO, but now my performance while playing BF2142 worse, I even reloaded Windows XP Pro, it didnt help, but I did notice two things, I had a hard time installing my ViewSonic monitor drivers, it keeps going back to standard analog monitor, but also the startup time is longer than previously possible bad monitor or bad food suddenly?

Best Answer: was your old video card agp or pci, if it was agp and this one is pci then it will naturally be alot slower regardless of how much memory it has on it. pci is not good as a graphics interface even at 256mb level. and remember more memory and "newer" card not necessarily better faster card the gpu and ddr speed are waaaay more important. if you have an agp slot be sure to use that should be a brown color slot
Re:He means the amperage on the 12V rail, not the overall wattage. Since everything else seems unchanged, I can only blame the PSU.
This may not be helpful, but A643700+/7800GT to FX55/7950GT is not much of an upgrade, especially considering how much money you probably spent on it. Would've been wiser to keep the CPU and move to a 8800GTS

Re:Call me crazy but I don't think your monitor would have any bearing whatsoever on your computers performance. If anything I'd worry about your vid card or power issues.
EDIT: Btw, bad OS cd's have been known to cause headaches like this before. It might help if you tried another OS disk.
