Q: I have a strange question. All my USB keyboard (Logitech G10 and the Saitek Eclipse II) do not work on my Windows XP Professional system until Windows actually loads. This means I can not get into the BIOS unless I plug an old Dell PS / 2 keyboard. Not too much of an inconvenience, but annoying.
Once Windows loads, the keyboard works fine. Any ideas?
Best Answer: thats because in the bios you have to have usb support enabled
Re:There should be a setting in the bios called "legacy USB". I believe this case is exactly what this is supposed to correct.

If I get one of those USB -> PS/2 adapters, would that help? I used to have a bazillion of them, but they were lost somewhere along the way.
I don't know. I have a PS/2 and USB combo keyboard. I know that would work.
Re:That is not unusual. I have a Dell 8200 that works the same way
So if I need to be in BIOS or do a Ghost restore, I need the PS2
keyboard

Re:Yep, get a PS/2 keyboard as a spare.
