Q: I have a Geforce FX 5500, and it works than the fact that in dual monitor mode, and showing only the second half on the screen when connected to the plug card.
When me the monitor built into the slot in the monitor the integrated map (which is disabled) I get the left half of the screen, his oddly.
Drivers been removed and reinstalled to make sure the drivers are not issue.
Anyone an idea? The BFG Tech tech support was useless, as the individual did not understand what the problem was no matter how much I explained.
If that makes the difference, its a PCI card.
Re:Oh, and to add, don't know if this makes a difference or not, but when I change the desktop resolution in the display properties menu, it only affects the "right half" of the screen that is shown by the FX5500.
Re:Yes, I am connecting the monitor directly into the FX5500
I just installed the FX two days ago, and it has been doing this since I first sucessfully hooked it up.
The onboard has the red x as being disabled.
It's quite the strange situation, and I'm thinking of just returning the card and buying an AGP model instead, since I've always had great success with hooking those up.
Once again, thanks for the help. If you can think of anything else that might be causing the problem, please let me know.
Re:I've already disabled the on board video in the device manager, and this problem still occurs.
Impossible. Something very strange is going on.
I need some background:
- Stupid question, but you are just connecting the monitor directly to the FX5500 right?
- Did you just install the FX5500?
- Was the FX5500 ever working correctly on this system? If so, have you tried using system restore to go to a restore point a few days prior to the problem occuring?
- When you expand "Display Adapters" in the Device Manager, how many devices do you see listed, what are their names and do any have a yellow exclamation or a red "X" (the onboard should have a red X if it's been disabled)?
Re:I've already disabled the on board video in the device manager, and this problem still occurs. I've got no signal splitter attached.
I'll take pictures of my situation tonight, maybe it can help to resolve the situation.
Thanks for all the help so far, though.
Re:Do you have a signal splitter attached the Video out?
Re:Doesn't make sense. If dual monitor is enabled, you should see two screens in the Display Properties window.
Next suggestion would be to go to the Device Manager and disable (don't remove, just disable) the onboard video hardware.
Re:I've tried that, yet there is only a picture of one screen. Thank you, though.
Re:You should disable it in Windows' Screen Properties (right click on an empty area of the desktop, choose Properties, and somewhere there (I am sorry, I have a single video card/monitor). There would be there a picture of two screens side by side, select one and then deselect the check box "Show Windows desktop on this monitor" something
Hope that helps
Re:I tried, but there was no option to disable in the bios.
