Re:AV=Kaspersky- Best unpacking enginein the business, most frequently updated sig database 9and largest) currently @ 84k+ sigs and updates every 3 hours (actually HAS updates every 3, not looks for them).

Re:I use Panda Titanium 2004 and Sygate 5.5 firewall. I also have Smoothwall running on the gateway. I use Sygate incase of a exploit in Smoothwall.

Re:AVG and old version of Kerio (2.x?)

Re:I like having a seperate firewall/router.

Personally I use linux for it, there are plenty of dedicated firewall distros with easy to setup installs. Check out Smoothwall as a good example (http://www.smoothwall.org/). Probably the best solution this side of 3 grand. There are plenty of others.

If you have a old computer laying around you can make into a cheap setup, then you can do without the hassle and expense of firewalls and the numerous problems they can cause. Anything about 133-200mhz and above with 32 megs of ram or more can make a great router, even under heavy network stress there is more then enough horsepower there to handle it.

Re:AntiVirus = Panda Platinum 7
Firewall = Sygate Pro 5.5

Formerly used Kerio firewall, but I really wasnt happy with the new version. So, I went back to Sygate.

I am anti Norton/Macafee, because theyve failed me in the past on routine checks. Panda's been flawless for me ..::knocks on wood::

Re:Maybe the newest ones are different. I got a bad taste of ZA awhile back and I've never gone near it since.

Zonealarm for firewall. A lot of people dont like it, mostly because its popular, and for the reason its popular – its piss easy to use and works well.

NAV 2002 Antivirus and Firewall aren't a hog on my comp.

Zonealarm is a hog.

I agreed with him about NAV 2002 but not sure about ZA Pro 4 I am using right now.

Re:Never had and problems with Norton, but for free stuff:

Antivirus: AVG
Firewall: Sygate, with Kerio a close second (Zone Alarm blows…)

Re:Firewall = Kerio
Anti = Panda Titanium

if i had money i'd get the Panda Platinum, it's pretty nice.

Re:I don't care if I have to buy the software or if it's free. I have noticed norton seems to slow things up. I have used zonealarm before and didn't like it that much. Any other ideas for a good firewall program? I have my routers firewall but just want a little extra. I'll cherck out AVG & PC cillin. Thanks!

Re:ones you pay for
AntiVirus: PC cillin

freeware antivirus
panda titanium, if you are IT you can get it for free
AVG antiVirus
Anti Vir

firewall = zonealarm

Re:I am among the people that disklie norton. I've tried it, and all it does is slow down and crash my machine half the time. I've seen it completely screw up clients machines. I use AVG because it is less intrusive, and I have a hardware firewal (my router). Sometimes I turn on the firewall in SP2, when I feel like it.
