Q: Sorry mods: I have a life-line use.
Im in a pickle, how can I determine where the mailboxes are stored in Exchange 2003? They are stored on the C drive with 8 GB and they have to drive M with 59GB. Im like u003c100mb left
I am using Windows Server 2003

Re:1- your public stores, move them to the same location as your private stores. also your transaction log files will take up space if you haven't run a full online backup to clear them. also check the size of your "badmail" folder.
2- once you promote a member server to DC, you will not get local users and groups in the Manage section w/o demoting.

Re:1.) My database path is drive E:\Program Files\Exchsrv\MBDATA. So that is fine. But what else would be taking up so much space on C?
HOWEVER: My "Public Store" database is still on Drive C:\Program Files\Exchsvr\MBDATA, but the file s are the same names as the Mailbox stores, pub1.edb / pub1.stm, so where would I move them, how do I back them up before moving them
EDIT: Checked other server, made E:\Exchsrvr and moved database.
2.) kinda a big issue, but I logged in as another "administrators" and everything is working fine. This has to have something to do with AD and local accounts. How can I get into users and add Administrator back to the local users?
3.) Something to do with DNS i think. But it wont let me have it setup like it used to. It is fixed though.

Re:1- check your database paths to make sure they're pointing to E drive.
2- make sure the administrator account that's getting denied is part of the domain admins group for file permissions. make sure that account is part of domain computers and exchange domain computers group for exchange permissions.
3- i'm guessing when you promoted your exchange box to DC, it overwrote some files. did you re-apply your currently exchange service pack??? actually, don't do that yet…go http://servername/exchange and see if you get a signon screen for OWA
you may need to do some R&D, as i've never promoted a member server to a DC…good luck.

Re:Three "different" problems now:
1.) Space issue on drive C:, why is it filling up when drive E: should be used for everything? There is no more issue with moving the mailboxes, they are in the correct place.
2.) I got by the "access denied" by using another "administrators" account name. It will not let the "administrator" user do anything, but will let other administrators. What io up with this? I made the server a DC and ever since the administrator account has not been right
3.) Might deal with #2 issue. I can not log in to Outlook Web Access. It just goes to a blank page. All services are up and running correctly. Why is this? EDIT: looks like my DNS entry got deleted

Re:I am getting the same access denied error on anything that I open. I had everything setup perfect yesterday except for the space problem, but I made the exchange server a Domain Controller. It was not one before. It said it would delete all local accounts when I did that, I am wondering if that might be the problem, but I need it to be a DC now, since I need it to be a global catalog server as well.
I unchecked the message tracking option to see if that might help, but I need to know why my C drive is filling up when my E drive should be?
There is no need to move the mailboxes, AFAIK, they show to be on drive E: it has to be something else.

Re:Sorry not M, I have drive E:
My database tab shows to be stored on E:\Program Files\Exchsvr\MBDATA\prv1 and the file is about 5GB.
That is the only thing on drive E: other than PST backups from migrating.
So what is the deal? What it taking up so much space? The transaction logs are stored on Drive C:. So what do I need to do?
I am now thinking about just changing the partition size but

Re:go into Exchange System Manager.
expand to your server, then storage group, then mail store – right click, Dismount Store.
right click dismounted store, properties, database tab.
change location to M drive. you do know there is no more "M" drive in Exchange 2003. So that M must be something you set up yourself…
**note** Make sure you have a successful backup…or it's a long day if something goes kaput.

Re:Im playing stupid, obviously.
How do I dismount my current storage and connect to M: and then mount the storage?
I dont have enterprise manager, or are you referring to System Manager?
Re:What does this have to do with a pickle?
Great now you made me hungry.
Re:dismount the current storage
connect your mailbox to M:
mount the storage
you can find this in the enterprise manager.
word of caution, backup before you do this, just in case you lose all your data.
