Q: Sorry to be a pain, but I tried ASUS support (no answer) and some other forums and nobody has a concrete answer and I am really thinking of returning this board now – that would be a shame!
It just not the PSU runs when I press to stop, I thought I was still able to enter the BIOS POST or a number of results, or even a speaker Beep! If anyone has this board and experienced no weird diet-related probs, or you may be tested without your CPU and RAM I would really like to know what is happening .
Thanks again.
Best Answer: 1) you can't buy processors for 478 sockets anymore
2) That socket went obsolete over a decade ago
3) you can't upgrade the processor in a laptop

Re:ASUS support got back to me, but I think they misunderstood the question – they told me to assemble the motherboard + components outside the case! Point being that I have no other components yet!
Anyway, as for beeps I will give that a try, but the system literally stays on for only half a second. Very odd.

Re:actually yea, just plug speakers into the onboard sound (or jumper it for the case speaker) and it will tell you whats wrong :Q
<EDIT> i checked the manual for beeps…
one short beep = normal (duh!)
long beeps in an endless loop = ram
one long beep and 3 short beeps = vid
high pitch beeps = thermal throttle engaged

With processor, but no RAM, there are continuous beeps.
I think this ASUS board speaks to tell you the POST problem instead of beeping. ![]()

Re:>What should the P4B533-v do with no RAM or CPU???
About as much as a computer thats not plugged in.
Ive done this before. The board needs the ram and cpu to "think" (actually execute the bios code).
