Q: I finally got broadband After living in the sticks for six years. My dial-up was quite possibly the worst in the country ;-( It was so bad that the phone would not work when it rained. So now I have this glorious DSL connection, what would you people recommend for security? I am running XP Pro and wonder if the firewall would be sufficient or should I go with something like ZoneAlarm? I am a complete newbie to broadband, so any help would be appreciated. BTW, I had forgotten that the Internet also photographs had ! This is neat
Thanks all
Re:Thanks all, good information. I will implementsome of these suggestions and see how things go.
Re:Look here:
Basic Protection for Broadband Internet Installation. (http://www.ezlan.net/firewall.html)
Re:ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonelabs.com) + WebWasher (http://www.webwasher.com) + Edited Host File (http://everythingisnt.com/hosts.html) is what I use.
Re:Depends on how paranoid you are. Me, I wouldn't go near the net without a firewall, router, some spyware and webbug detection utilities. My 2¢.

Use ZoneAlarm instead of the build in firewall in XP. I personally use a router + zonealarm together.
