Any slipstream instructions yet?
You can follow the instructoins on this page under "The integrated installation".
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/spdeploy.mspx
Doing that will give you the contents of the integrated (slipstreamed) CD on your hard drive.
What remains is to burn it on a CD and make it bootable.
For that, you can follow the instructions on this page under "Bootable Windows XP installation CD-Rom (with SP1)".

its still horribly buggy…company recieved the dev release yesterday and everything seemed cool on laptops so i thought might as well put it on a desktop (which already had RC2 for testing) just to give it the latest and greatest. Well after installation all the sudden comp will not boot. Not in Normal Mode. Not in safe mode. not in any mode. not even able to do a recovery console on it.
Reinstall windows completely
Just another case of rouge Service packs by microsoft i guess
This happaned to me as well, on an AMD64 so I guess it isn't platform specific. Strangely enough the beta works fine on my laptop, but the final hoses my desktop. AWESOME. Reinstalling right now

so whats the difference Between the network release and Win update release? I mean I have a home network and it will be eaier to download it once 266MB than 10 80MBs. So what to do? Are both the same thing?
The download that is available now contains everything for any kind of computer. That is why it is about 250MB.
The other approach is to update through windows update. In that case, you will only be downloading those files that are needed on your particular computer. In that case, you will be downloading less than the 250MB size.
So, that is the difference between the two types.
Let's say you have two identical computers. You update one through windows update and the other by downloading the XPSP2 file.
After the update, the two computers are going to be functionally identical.
If you have multiple computers, just download this

and run it on all of your computers.
You can also integrate it into your Windows XP CD and install it together with windows all at once if needed.

Re:You can wait for the release on the windows update site. If you use that and then you ever need to re-install, you will have to go through windows update after install again. Alternatively, you can download the already released file, that is reffered to as the network version or something like that, and integrate it with your Windows CD. Then, if you install that, the SP2 will also be installed.
The second option has space advantages (on your hard drive) also.

Re:It's now available at Microsoft.com (http://{$MySite}/messageview.cfm?catid=34&threadid=1368694&enterthr ead=y), so it should be only a few days.
