Where are the files that Outlook 2007? [bottom line] [hard drive]

Q: I worked with a laptop this past weekend, moving from Vista back to XP. Anyway, recently the laptop Office 2007 trial edition expired, and also moved to Office 2003 (also match all other computers in the office) 0.

, I have a copy of the hard disk when it still had Vista . I saw the contacts folder of files in XML format, and there were not many so I just manually entered them in Outlook 2003. But I do not see the file (or files) anywhere, and even if I did, its probably also in xml format? It could be imported into Outlook 2003 and the. Plt file?

Re:Thanks, looks like Outlook 2003 & 2007 use the same .pst file format. It's just weird that I see a couple dozen contacts but the outlook.pst file just had the standard Welcome email in it. I just like to do some research before asking someone basically "Did I lose your email history?" ;)

The copies of office got screwed up on the computer before I got a hold of it, I'll try to piece together what happened when I return the laptop to him.

Re:It would be a several hour process before I could load up the copy of Vista again. I know how to find and work with .plt files, but I don't know how the changes in Office 2007 affect backwards compatibility. Or like Outlook Express uses .dbx files, I know how to find them and move them from one computer to another.

Re:it's been a little while since i moved outlook and i don't have 2007…

you should be able to go to Tools, Options, something like Mail Setup and look for Data Files or something showing you the path (that you can change) where outlook stores mail
