Q: Subject says it all.
Thanks
Re:If you have a Fry's Electronics nearby, they offer decent prices on this equipment. I paid $49 for a spool of CAT5 1000 feet, and only $7 for 50 CAT5 cable ends. Also picked up some crimpers for only $12.
Re:I have seen the stranded CAT 5 cable, I've not used crimp on RJ45's with it.
You might need a different connector to get a positive connection on the stranded CAT 5 cable.

Re:wow, that's a great price… i've notice places selling plugs for stranded/solid cable… does it make a difference?
Re:Crimpers at Home Depot are high (about $45) and have alot of features you don't really need.
Click here for a basic RJ45 crimper that will do the job with 100 plugs, for $13.50 (http://www.pccables.com/cgi-bin/orders6.cgi?action=Showitem&id=ID325853&partno=210 00a&search=TOOL&rsite=www.pccables.com&rcode=)

Re:blah, .07cents a foot? if i didn't buy the 1000ft roll, it was 13cents/ft!!! i only needed 200ft… but i said, ah, what the hell.
Re:Home Depot:
CAT5 non-plenum cable $54 for 1000 FT roll ($0.054 per foot)
or you can cut a piece at $0.07 per feet.
Plenum grade more, but cheapper than anywhere else.
They have bulk connector packages, faceplates, etc.
Can find little cheapper on the net.
Re:actually, if you want cheap plugs, www.pccable.com, if they have it in stock. i probably have 80 plugs i'll never use, and like 150' of cable i'll never use
homedepot is great if you want EVERYTHING to wire your house. ![]()
