Which Content Management System? [content management system] [pain in the ass]

Q: I will be here soon to build a new site, and it will be a beefier that I now use WordPress needs. The most important of the requirements is that the capability of a members-only area to support. I would also like to be able to register the user, so I do not have to do them every time a new user connects. I am partial to PHP / MySQL because what I know, and Perl is a .

Any suggestions? My first thoughts are pMachine and Expression Engine, but I have an easy way for users to register (I havent played with them feel that much already). I will install Plone afternoon, but I dont know that I can easily create a members only section.

Any help is appreciated.


Best Answer: not everybody uses a CMS, here are some I know of and the most popular: mambo, joomla, Drupal, Wordpress, dotnetnuke, theres plenty try looking up fantastico theres a huge list of them.

Re:Unfortunately, you'll find that there are security holes with just about any web application. You'll find them in PHP-Nuke, Post Nuke, and even with pMachine. The key is minimizing your potential security risk. What I've found with PHP-Nuke and the same can probably be said for Post Nuke, is that these two have a very large installed base of users. Therefore, the number of "incidents" reported will be greater. Plus the fact that many of these users have not secured their sites properly. With the open source community that PHP-Nuke and Post Nuke have, the fixes to some of these security holes get posted very quickly.

I looked at PHP-Nuke, until I started poking around their forums and started finding *lots* of widespread incidents of holes in the software letting others create admin accounts and deface the site. A problem that large is enough to scare me off.
