Q: Excuse me something that Im sure this question comes from a lot of days, but I have serious problems with a new machine, my friend and I are building. We use Windows 98, but may have to upgrade because we can not get rid of the NDIS. Protection of debt and stack errors during startup up.
Gaming is an important issue, so we do something that will run with most of the major titles out of necessity. Any suggestions?

Re:Win2k Pro is what i use on my gaming boxes. if the system is low end hdet win98SE is ok too
Re:I'm using Win2K Pro, I found that Rainbow 6, albiet an older version, will not run on 2k. At least I haven't found a way, I haven't looked too hard though. I have rack mounted hard drives and being lazy, got a cheap HD and installed 98se on it.
Otherwise everything else runs great, no complaints.
Personally, I'd stay far away from WinMe.

I'd give Windows ME at try.. 2k seemed a bit of a bear to use just for a windows desktop….. And XP just gives me a headache. But since I am Linux user
don't give what I say a lot of weight
I'd try to work out the problems you're having with 98 before I tried Windows ME. In fact I wouldn't try me at all.
Re:Whatever you do don't use ME. It has little to no support from Microsoft.

Re:Windows.net is working pretty good for me
Re:I like the idea of not having a heavy load on a systems resources, how is 2K with games and such?
Thanks again!

I, personally like 2k better, all of XP's extra crap can bog down a system without a ton of ram.
I hate XP
2K all the way

Re:I'd highly recommend Windows XP. It's far more stable than 98, and as long as you have more than 128Mb of ram, it runs very well.
