Q: I tried Nero 5.5 and Easy CD Platinum and Basic, and they just work. I downlaoded the upgrades and patches and still just work. Also I cannot find the so-called integrated burner that comes with XP to try that one. Actually my CDRW is nothing more than a CD drive now. Any ideas?
Re:I also have win xp and tried both of the mentioned products. Neither works properly for me either.
Both disabled my regular CDROM drive for some reason. I followed the exact upgrade instructions for ECDC 5.0 platinum along with the win xp migration. Also emailed Roxio tech support, tried a few things they said, still doesn't work (DirectCD, other parts do).
Guess I'm out 69 buks !
Re:Search for a utility called 'Force ASPI 1.7', it's nolonger being made, but will install the Adaptec ASPI drivers onto your PC. This should fixup most CD burning software
Re:Had no problems with ASPI or anything else with Nero 5.5.5.1. ( I believe thats the right number)

Re:Because there is no ASPI layer in XP, it has to be installed manually using the file aspiinst.exe. If you don't have it on a EZCD Creator CD then PM me and I'll e-mail it tou you.
Re:Not saying this will work, but look in device manager just to see if the OS sees your cd drive right. If not try some new drivers…
