Why is everybody Samsung business? [micron] [ramp]

Q: Samsung, u0026amp; Infineon all stick together. They refuse volumes of memories and cry shortages and increase prices. I wish there was a way we could boycott.

Great Link Nitro!! Thanks.
But this was launched in May of 2002. I wonder if they succeeded is bullsh!tting the DOJ and convinced them that there was noe price fixing going on. Hence, our current situation.

Re:LOL, ok guys.. Dont kill each other. Miscommunication, thats all.

Ok, I thought price fixing was when multiple companies got together and agreed on a set price to sell a particular item for. I know its illegal, but I dont think that's what is happening here. I think that Samsung is crying "shortage" and just stockpiling their ram and releasing it in dribs and drabs, marking the prices way over normal premium (which is probably why 256MB GDDR3 cards are so damn expensive) so they can make an absolute killing. Why this isn't illegal I will never understand.
I call Boycott!!!! Who is with me!!!! :::::::crickets chirping:::::::: ;P

Re:there's no need to be personal about it, I only corrected you because I thought it was a slip of the tongue, simply that less supply does not increase demand, which is basically what you said in the above post. The reference to taking classes again was simply because, from personal experience, it was a common misinterpretation for people studying economics.

Anyway, back on topic:

Withholding memory, good or bad?

Personally, I'd say no difference..

oh dear… thanks a lot

Demand is high, supply is low, this drives up prices, you dont need an economics class for that.

If supply got lower, and the same number of people wanted to buy them, then the price would go higher.

Dont treat me like a retard because you have an inferiority complex.

you mean, PRICE goes up because there is less supply (but only when it outstrips demand).

I would bet that if competition did kill one of the manufacturers, prices would probably be higher than now. Enjoy it while it lasts.

demand and price would increase…. less supply = more demand.

price fixing, they would be losing money like the last year if they didnt.

yup, which is illegal.

The way its SUPPOSED to work is competition kills one or two of them off, then the demand goes up because theres less supply.
