I did actually reapply it after running sfc /scannow. No difference. Useless thing.
Still, it's running okay now, after a reformat. Took me two hours to get the damned driver for the ATI Rage 128 card, despite trying every single Rage driver from ATI's website. God their drivers suck.

That had better not be the problem. At least, I hope someone had left the date format in American and not switched it to UK.

I've removed unused protocols from the LAN settings, run chkdsk, MemTest (just in case), rebooted the machine several times. Everything seems to be fine, but TS is broken
Any ideas on how to track down the root of the problem?
MSKB is utterly useless on this one.

Re:This is a weird one, that is an executive error code (if it is trusted to be correct). Most likely a mix match of dll versions where they address space they are loading into overlap.
Anything new on that box (apps, patches, drivers?)
