Q: I have a Diamond MX300. Ive tried the standard drivers and the latest reference drivers I could find, and Winamp still does not play MP3s. Any ideas?
Re:I had the same problem with a Vortex2 card. I fought and fought with the stupid thing. Tried Win2k drivers, beta drivers, you name it. Never could get it to work. It'd always die after trying to play multiple sounds. Like starting an MP3 and then clicking menus to make the noise. Or even just scrolling through the start menu too fast.
I gave up on it. Sold the Vortex2 to a friend for his wife's computer, and bought a SB Live! Value. No problems with that card. That's the thing with creaf, they're still in business developing drivers that work.
Re:I bought a cheap soundcard that works with Win2000. I can live with it until I start working on my new computer.
Re:Spooon I use a SB live and Win2k and it works well with Winamp…
guy
Re:Another bump. Windows Media Player won't play MP3s either. It works for about 30 seconds or so, then it stops. After that, nothing works. Neither waves or MP3s. I haven't tried a MIDI file yet.
Re:Bump for new suggestions…
Re:i had this problem when i tried installing the beta vortex2 drivers (silly freakin' me). after much pain i purged them and got back to win2k native and all is well (so far, knock knock).
Re:Yeah, I reinstalled winamp. I've tried just about everything. Oh well, I've been wanting a Soundblaster Live anyway…
Re:i don't know what to tell you. have you tried reinstalling winamp?
Re:Yep. It plays for a little bit, then just stops. When it does that, wave files won't play either. Argh.
Re:you're selecting the right output under winamp preferences, right?
