Windows 2000, see the IDE-SCSI devices such as . bad? [acer cdrom] [scsi devices]

Q: Hey everyone, I have a strange problem. After installing the drivers from 4.28, My IBM hard drive or CDROM Acer are now recognized as . Is this a problem? Everything seems to work great. If anyone has any information if it would be appreciated. Thanks a lot

Re:Yeah i uninstalled the busmaster driver and also installed the hotfix everyone is talking about to enable ata100 and dma i guess.

Re:the busmaster drivers is the only way i managed to get my IDE drives running UDMA. however they also listed it as SCSI, and killed my plextor burner and toshiba dvd. by uninstalling the busmaster driver for those 2 things i managed to get both my dvd and burner to function properly, if you uninstall for your hdd then it reads it as it should as well- only prob you have then is trying to get udma working on it without the busmaster drivers.

Re:guy, i got the 4.28's here. (http://{$MySite}/messageview.cfm?catid=34&threadid=348221) They have an option to install ata100 support or something like that for Windows 2000

guy, i don't want to do that, everything seems to be working great. Even my old hard drive that took forever to copy mp3's and whatnot to another hard drive is working faster and much more reliable.

guy, thanks for your info. About your burning problem, did u install an aspi driver for windows 2000? It doesn't come with one "out of the box" so you have to download one. You can pick one up here. (http://users.belgacom.net/gc247244/aspi.zip)

Re:I have had this to happen before, and everything still worked but my DVD drive.

I uninstalled the IDE Busmaster driver and everything was ok.

Re:Sorry this doesn't answer your question, but where did you dl the 4.28 drivers? I couldn't find them on VIA's webpage.

Thanks Trav

Re:This seems to be a bug in those particular 4-in-1 drivers. My Win2k system suffers from the exact same problem. Everything works fine except all my drives are listed as SCSI. On the whole this isn't much of a problem for me (except I can't use Nero to burn).
