Q: I have an NFR copy of XP Pro I have in the vs.net event. What I can not do? Can I update? What are the restrictions? Thanks!
Re:Originally posted by: guy
I intend to use it for my own purposes according to the agreement.
I was just wondering if this can be patched or updated.
Thanks! ttt
If you're talking about downloading critical updates and things like that, then you probably can. I have an Academic version that's NFR also. It's the same as Windows 2000 Professional retail, but just cheaper.
Re:I have an NFR version that I got from my school ($25), and it did require activation. I got a copy of Office XP Premium NFR too, and it also required activation.
Re:Do the disks from the .NET Launch require activation?
Does anybody know a place to find information about getting around activation? PLease PM me if you know.
Re:guy, besides the fact that you cannot sell it

Re:You definitely cannot sell it, but I've seen people trade it on the FS/FT forums. I have never read the license agreement, so I really don't know the legal limitations. If you're up for it, I guess you can read the license agreement and look for things that you can't do with it. Hope this helps.
