Windows XP Pro takes about 5 minutes loading! : ( [mouse icon] [windows xp pro]

Q: I have WinXP Pro, and the day after I installed SP1, Windows is acting up. it is a beautiful splash screen with the moving color under the logo and then goes to a black screen for about a couple of minutes. then it is just the desktop , but I can not move it. that takes a few minutes. Finally uploaded. I have tried removing SP1, with no change. but this occurred after SP1 was installed and the machine was turned on and off a few times, so SP1 did not suspect that to me. but what can be wrong? nothing else was installed during the time between SP1 and they start to happen. TIA!

great adventures lay ahead for its users.

Consider yourself a pioneer in the SP1 arena.

From the sound of it, it could be hardware/detect/driver issue (Network card or a USB device would be my guess).

Re:yeah, everything's 5 by 5 on the device manager, and the system event log just has a few small errors relating to unused ati stuff, but it's been there since forever and never bothered me before.

Re:Have you checked the Device Manager to see if any devices have errored out?

Also, you may want to check the System Event log to see if there are any clues there.
