Windows XP u0026 Abit KT7A unstable [kt7a raid] [sb live value]

Q: I have a KT7A-raid or a friend has a KT7A and neither of us have been able to get Windows XP to run without crashing several times a day. We both have a sound card and are using latest BIOS. Windows 2000 runs fine on my system, but now he has problems getting 2000 to work. I was wondering if any other owners KT7A were problems with Windows XP. Are there any known issues with XP and KT7A? Everyone is capable of successfully running of XP on a KT7A? Have you nothing in particular to make it stable?

Thanks for any info

Re:I also have a KT7A-RAID. I remember when I first installed XP, I experienced some strange sound glitches and the occational bsod. I installed newer drivers for the highpoint raid controller from the highpoint web site instead of using the MS drivers that came loaded with XP. That seemed to do the trick. Been pretty solid ever since. Hope that helps.

My gf have the same setup but it's working fine. For some reason, it won't accept a Geforce4 MX 440

Re:Try installing the drivers from the manufactures. They are known to atleast fix some problems since they have been updated since the release of Windows XP. Also install the VIA 4-in-1, they are supposed to help.

Re:I'm using revision 1.0.
You can try the updated 4in1 drivers. Newer than XP's. Don't think that will help though.
Do you get any error messages? Or just crashes & reboots without warning?
What are the specs of your systems? Is the system overclocked?
Maybe that might give a clue.

Let me know.

Re:I did a fresh install. Used the windows xp drivers for my sound card. XP includes 4in1 drivers. should I try the VIA drivers?
Which revision of the mobo do you have? We are both using 1.0-1.2.

Thanks

Re:I have WinXP and a KT7A-RAID and have had no problems. There was nothing in particular
to make it work with XP. Do you have the latest 4in1 drivers?
Are you dual booting XP/2000? Is each OS a fresh install?
Tried the latest drivers for SBLive? Have you tried uninstalling the SBLive to see if that is the problem?
If it isn't that, then I'm not sure what the problem is?

Here's some sites I use for any problems:

ViaHardware Forums (http://forums.viahardware.com/)
Bink Windows XP (http://www.windowsxp.nu/links.htm)

Hope these are of some help.
