Re:The ultimate solution: reformat. At least the PC is working for you. If you've been running it for awhile, a clean install always helps.
Re:ive had this before, with the same psu adn ocing.
i just gave up and reformatted the pc. now it works fine
Re:Could've been a power spike into the hdd.
if you've had this before, was it on this computer?
With this psu?
and were you oc'ing at the time?

Could you try booting from another hard drive? Could be a failing drive…
Ill give that a try in a bit

Re:Umm ok i do have a generic PSU – 420w turbolink
Mobo: Soyo sy-kt600 dragon plus v1.0
Mobile 1500+
geforce 2
crucial 256mb stick of pc2100
2 case fans
20 gig Western digital
this is my sisters pc and i dont think it eats to much power
i jsut get past the post and then on the bottom left of the screen i get the error
ive had an error similair to this before and i think a reformat fixed it
Re:How far into the boot are you getting? Are you seeing any error messages? If so, what are they (verbatim).
Need more detail to find out where you are failing in the startup process before we can suggest what to try.
Re:Ummm what kind of computer/hardware is in your computer right now?
I've had errors occur for my harddrive due to power supply issues before, so if you were overclocking with a crappy power supply (generic) then maybe that's your problem. If you don't hear any clicking with the harddrives, you might want to check your PSU.
Re:I had this problem with a bad cable.
Re:If you've got access to the net you might try downloading the drive diagnostics utility from the Manufacturer's website–Drive Fitness Test for Hitachi/IBM, Powermax for Maxtor, Seatools for Seagate, DLdiag for Western Digital, etc–and then install the utility to a bootable floppy (all automatic with the file download) and boot from that to run the necessary tests on the drive to find out whether it's a goner or not. If it's still under warranty, most of the drive makers will require you to do it anyway to get a drive failure/return code so you can RMA it.
Re:it did reset my bios but i switched everything back to the way i had it.
i also checked very firmly if everything is plugged in ok.
damnit this is pisssing me off!! ![]()
Re:When you reset your bios did it switch your boot order? If the bios is fine booting from a CD/floppy would help rule out errors, as mentioned. If you've been inside your case recently perhaps the molex or IDE cable came loose or unplugged. Just a bit of brainstorming.
Re:yes it is recognized perfectly in bios
Re:Could be a bad drive, or a bad cable. Is it recognized correctly in the BIOS?
Re:i'll try tomorrow. why wouldnt it be able to read my HD though? it did pass the post, i get the error a few screens after it.
Re:It passes POST and tries to read the hard drive? Try booting from a floppy or cdrom, just to see if it works.
