Q: Well, the only thing I see is improvement in 3dmark2001 . I have a timedemo in Q3 and 67 fps at 800×600 got max details (wtf. I use to high 80s and 90s Get Low with my mx) . my performance in Unreal Tournament in OpenGL, I believe hardly any difference with my MX-use D3D . fps about the same maybe even a bit better on my MX . If anyone can help me please do. because if not I just wasted money on this card.
P.S. And yes Ive reinstalled and even a whole new o / s with a new HDD. Windows XP .
also did notice that the settings under OpenGL and D3D are all standard, except d3d got vsync always .
not I honestly think this is too much to deal with performance in getting my vid card . but im gonna post it anyways, so people know what im dealing with.

Re:This Radeon 8500 is a strange duck. I am an nVidia user who has gotten lazy over the years from downloading one driver for all of my PC's and then rebooting. Nothing to it. I removed my GF2-Pro and installed the OEM 8500 and my scores were almost cut in half. I got <U>2614</U> on my first and only test so far and I am using the Catalist drivers. But playing 1024×768 in Jedi Outcast there is a noticible improvement in detail and performance. I'm not big on numbers, the performance that I can see and feel is what counts but a drop of this size has me less than happy.
I deleted the detonator drivers and all references to them in the registry. The card looks and feel great but those scores just plain suck. Anyone else had this happen?

As far as Jedi Knight II goes, i'd bet my life its a bottleneck problem, and the MX can't even handle that game at 40fps at 1024×768, not even on my machine, and 60 isn't even that bad, cuz the G4 Ti4600 can't play it at over 100fps. So make sure all the configurations are correct, try messing with certain settings to see if it helps. And if not, time to get a new system.
Yeah he's got it figured out. Your processor is utter sh*t for gaming as well. Jedi Knight 2 turns on Anisotropic Filtering by default when it sees a card fast enough to do it, the GeForce MX is not one of those cards. If you set EVERYTHING to lowest possible detail in your control panal (performance setting), and dissable Anisotropic Filtering you'll see the FPS take a big jump, of course it may not look pretty.

I hate to be one of those guys to say it has to be user error, but it has to be something configured incorrectly.
The GF2 MX has piss poor performance compared to the 8500.
I would second that you give Omega another shot. He's been able to work around a few bugs in my system over the years.

Re:Doesn't your new operating system have a refresh rate flaw that caps frames per second. Try turning Smoothvision off and apply the refresh rate fix for Windows XP. Re:You running it with 32 bit? Radeon runs slower with 16 bit. I would recommand getting the 6118 driver too.
