Palm is the same problem when they convert about .

Re:This is pretty wacked.

If it runs well and there are some decent software ported to it, I wouldn't mind running Linux on an X-Scale , actually. Perhaps carry two? :D

Re:>>>This sucks a fat one…I guess I'll be sticking with my for a while now…<<<

LOL!

That means that instead of buying it on the first day of release, you will wait a week.

Re:lmao! gooooo Linux!

guy will you convert to XScale with a Linux OS?

lmao! if you do can I have your IPaq? :-)

I remember those performance graphs too.. looks like they must have incorperated alot of SIMD instructions or something that no-one saw coming (is XScale anything like x86 btw?).

Just wondering, what are those features they speak off?

Power saving features, application optimizations, etc.

The 400MHz X-Scale in the Toshiba e740 is as fast or slower than the current 206MHz StrongARM in everyday apps.

Re:that does suck, maybe alinux version wil be out before long.

"It's the same situation you had when Pentium 4 came out – the software wasn't optimised to start with."

Nothing change, only the p4 has gotten faster, and not much has been optimized since then.
