XP is installed, now can not access websites [dns ip] [free isp]

Q: I had WIN/98 and my ISP gave me free access number and DNS settings, all worked fine. I formatted disk and installed WIN/2K uses the same dial-in number and DNS settings, everything was very good. I formatted disk and installed WIN / XP, and uses the same information as above. I can dial up and connect, but not to other sites, and the only thing I can ping the addresses. All others will not let me have tried connect.

I the ICF (firewall), both on and off, but that does not seem to make a difference .

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re:Removing the primary/secondary DNS entries given to me from the ISP did the trick… Thanks all!

Try just letting Xp se the connection up using the wizard instead of manually. Allow Xp to determine the DNS address etc itself, just give it thte phone no. to dial.

Agreed

contact your isp

The ISP I use is MetConnect which offers free dial-up access if in the NYC or Long Island area… I guess you get what you pay for since the Tech Support link says there is no Tech Support. :(

Hey, no pop-ups, banner ads, can't be free, even though it is still dial-up
