XP Pro loaded question; HHHEEELLLPPPP PLEASE! [reload windows] [hdds]

Q: I have an older system running XP Pro quite well. I had two hard drives in 1930 (5400) and 1915 (7200) GB respectively. I decided to replace it with 2x 120 GB WD HDD and . Heres whats happening now:

BIOS recognizes the 2 and 2 optical drives

XP Pro starts loading from CD-UP rom

Starts starts loading the basic Setup Files

but when the message at the bottom of the screen gets to: Setup is Starting Windows

my LCD goes blank and goes into standby (yellow green button)

I have tried to load with just the basics: 1 HDD / 1 card cd-rom/video / 1 stick of 512 MB of RAM with the same result. I even tried two different XP Pro disks.

Please Help . This system worked fine, but will not load XP PRO with the new .

edit: I tried the 6 XP Pro start-up disk approach.

edit (2): I got this disk is not formatted, simply connected and bath. Is this wrong with XP PRO?

Re:I experienced something similar. In Bios, try to set the 'interrupt mode' from PIC to APIC or vise-versa see if that does it for you….

It *should*, but the WinXP disk may not have proper drivers for your video card, especially if it's a dual-output card. You didn't mention what kind of card it is, so this is just speculation.

it was (is) an Asus ti4200. btw I tried it both in analog and dvi form but XP Pro would not complete the install.

Re:lol, just tried it….. same problem.

i am now changing the video card and trying to load with an analog instead of dvi connection

edit: seems to be working now.

does dvi not work in a new XP Pro install?????????

Re:what i would do next, connect 1 of your old drives, and run setup….see what happens.

Re:then check out what board ya have and see what BIOS updates are available….possible that the board has problems with large HD's.

guess i should read better….if board sees drives ok…..then forget what i said about the BIOS….:o

Re:Try installing with only 1 drive connected, and see what happens…..you can format and partition drive with xp.
if that doesn't resolve anything…..since you mention "older" system, it's possible you need a BIOS update from your board manufacturer.
