Q: “Boot Failure insert system disk and press enter”
I tried to repair the system without improvement. Everything was fine on a recent reformat of my first modern SATA HD, 3 weeks of bliss, now this error.
Im inexperienced, and a Microsoft database search did not give this error to me. Is anyone familiar with what I could try to solve?
I can enter but this is known problem with the boot hanging makes me very unhappy.
I tried to reinstall Windows on top of itself, but I got a “system to install kernel change prevents” the message that they are prevented. I was just trying to install windows Ans from the CD, and booted.)

You wouldn't happen to have a floppy in the drive, would you? Sounds like it was trying to boot from that.

Re:Have you checked the BIOS? What is your boot order? I would try making the HD the first boot device. Let me know if that does not work and I will give you some other things to check.
